Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nDescribing Jamia Millia Islamia as \u201cmini India\u201d, its\nvice-chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar said students and staffers from various\nparts of the country were studying and working in the university. It had a\ncosmopolitan culture and those associated with the university were gender\nsensitive, she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Akhtar also talked about the continuous improvements in the\nuniversity\u2019s national and international rankings and said further efforts\nshould be made to upgrade its status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are getting full support from the government and\nhopefully, we will be able to start a medical college-cum-hospital in the near\nfuture,\u201d she added. Talking about the centenary celebrations of the university\nnext year, Akhtar asked all faculties, centres, departments and schools to\ncontribute in order to make it a grand success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She advised school students to forge a friendship with\nbooks, respect their elders, love their juniors and fulfil the expectations of\ntheir parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After addressing the gathering, Akhtar unveiled the model of\nINS Kolkata, which was presented to the university by the Indian Navy. It was\ninstalled in front of the FTK-CIT building of the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
INS Kolkata is the lead ship of the Kolkata Class Stealth\nGuided-Missile Destroyer of the Indian Navy. It was constructed at Mazgaon Dock\nLimited (MDL) and commissioned into the Navy on August 16, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Akhtar said the installation of the model ship will motivate\nthe students to join the armed forces to ensure the security and integrity of\nthe country. She also thanked the navy for presenting the model ship to the\nuniversity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
