The ship \u2013 50M long, 7.5 M wide and with a displacement of\naround 308 Tons \u2013 has a maximum speed of 34 knots with an endurance of more\nthan 1,500 nautical miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FPVs come with an efficient hull form developed in-house\nand proven after extensive model testing, a GRSE official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first ship of this class, ICGS Priyadarshini, has\nalready been commissioned on March 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FPV designs, which are exclusive to GRSE are an\nimprovisation on the Inshore Patrol Vessels (IPV) built by the defence PSU for\nthe Indian Coast Guard in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fuel- efficient and powerful platforms are well suited\nfor patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching, and rescue operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They are fitted with state-of-the-art main engines with\nAdvanced Control Systems and Water Jet Units and an \u2018Integrated Bridge System\u2019\nassimilating all Communication and Navigation Systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The key armament of a 40\/60 Gun and improved habitability\nfeatures with fully air-conditioned modular accommodation for 35 personnel are\nthe other salient features of these ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company would not undertake the post-launch activities\nwhich include balance fitting out of the ship, readiness of ship systems and\nsetting to work of equipment\/ systems. Thereafter, the ship would be put to sea\nfor trials before final delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a period of over five decades since inception in 1960,\nGRSE has successfully developed an array of world-class platforms including\nfrigates, missile corvettes, anti-submarine warfare corvettes and landing craft\nutility ships for the Indian Navy, all of them armed with high-tech infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
