The rich collection on display will be another step towards\nconserving India\u2019s rich heritage of handlooms for the next generations. The\ngallery will serve to be a resource centre for the students of fashion\ntechnology, apparel sciences and textiles designing. Ithas been curated with a\nunique design in which the master pieces of traditional handlooms are\njuxtaposed with modern audio-visual effects. The visitors will be able to feel\nthe ethnicity with a soft touch of technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The collection has a vision to help people explore, enjoy,\nand rediscover the world of Indian textiles through design and technology. The\nGallery consists of more than 230 different types oftextiles collections\ndivided into categories of over more than 30 traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The concept of display has been based on three categories:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Pre Loom \u201cIkat\u201d,<\/strong>\nwhere the design is already visualized and transferred to the yarn before the\nyarn is placed on the loom.<\/p>\n\n\n\nOn- Loom<\/strong>, the\ndesign is entered on the loom while weaving brocade, muslin, jamdani, weaved\nshawls, weaved sarees.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPost Loom,<\/strong> the\ntechniques that can be done on cloth after it is woven-block printing,\nembroidery and kalamkaricomes in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThere are five zones in the gallery and each zone has been\nnamed as weaving,embroidery, dying (Ikatpatola), pattern (Bandhej, Kalamkari,\nand Leheria) and TanaBana based on the intricacies of the textiles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
