It will become an Union Territory after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parliamentarian, whose speech in the Lok Sabha after\nabrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir drew praises, was seen\ndancing and playing the drums along with locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Namgyal hoisted the national flag at the local BJP office\nalong with party national general secretary Ram Madhav.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 5, the Centre stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its\nspecial status given under Article 370 and split it into two Union territories,\nJammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, which will come into existence on October 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The region has got &#8220;independence from Kashmir&#8221; and\nthe celebration is &#8220;just a trailer&#8221; for the development of Ladakh, he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Banners bearing slogans like &#8220;UT of Ladakh celebrates\nits 1st Independence Day&#8221; were hanging along roads of this picturesque\ntown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a series of tweets, Namgyal said the tricolour in each\nand every house of Ladakh symbolises the patriotism of the people and their\nunwavering commitment towards India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Ladakh got independence from Kashmir,&#8221; he said,\nadding that the spirit of patriotism is very high among school students and adults\nalike in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cultural performances by students were a delight of the\ncelebrations and the entire atmosphere was filled with patriotic fervour and\nunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So, we decided to celebrate Independence Day in the\ntraditional Ladakhi style through the beating of the &#8216;daman&#8217; and &#8216;surna&#8217;,&#8221;\nhe said, adding that these celebrations are &#8220;just a trailer for the\ndevelopment of Ladakh&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Namgyal said, &#8220;On the occasion of Independence Day, we\ncelebrate the martyrdom of our heroes.
