Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nAddressing the participants, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that this\ninitiative epitomises the political commitment, vision and guidance from our beloved\nPrime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji to not only strengthen the tertiary\nhealthcare in the country but also ensure availability of healthcare\nprofessionals in remote areas by making medical education affordable to the\npeople. He stated the Prime Minister is determined to achieve New India by\n2022, and such initiatives will be the hallmark of that India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Remembering fondly the former Prime Minister and Bharat\nRatna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his first death anniversary, Dr Harsh\nVardhan stated that Shri Vajpayee was one of those rare leaders who was loved\nby every section of the society and had the admiration and respect even of his\nopponents. He further added that it was Shri Atalji who recognised the need for\nmajor augmentation in the tertiary healthcare facilities in the country as\nearly as 2003. \u201cLaunching the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY),\na flagship scheme of the Government, Vajpayee ji announced setting up of six\nnew AIIMS under the scheme in the year 2003,\u201dhe added. He further said that\nthere has been a visible change in the tertiary healthcare since then in the\ncountry and assured that the Government is committed to take it even further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Citing the examples of Polio and maternal health, the Union\nHealth Minister said that it was Atal ji, who with his pragmatic and visionary\napproach envisaged the National Health Policy 2002 and launched it with the\nobjective of achieving an acceptable standard of good health of Indian\npopulation by decentralizing public health system. \u201cUpgrading infrastructure in\nexisting institutions, ensuring a more equitable access to health service\nacross the social and geographical expanse of India was one of its focus,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Harsh Vardhan further said that the pro-poor scheme and\ninnovative schemes started by Shri Atal ji helped millions. \u201cAtal ji took\nHIV\/AIDS head on by establishing State AIDS Control Societies. During his\nregime Anti-Retroviral Therapy was started,\u201d he mentioned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Harsh Vardhan mentioned that Atal Bihari Vajpayee\nInstitute of Medical Sciences (ABVIMS) has 100 MBBS seats this year. \u201cIt will\nbe a state-of-the-art medical college with reputed faculties and world class\ninfrastructure. Super Specialty Block has more than 550 beds and the New\nResident Doctors\u2019 Hostel has 827 bed units,\u201d he elaborated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey, MoS (HFW) also paid rich\ntributes to the former Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said that\nhe was a visionary leader and loved by everybody. He reiterated that central\ngovernment is committed to quality medical education in this country and this\nis a step forward to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
