It was established by the first Indian Council Act of 1861, enacted in the British parliament in the aftermath of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its role and strength were later expanded by the second Council Act of 1892. Limited election was introduced in 1909.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Council became a unicameral legislative body in 1921 and eventually the upper chamber of a bicameral legislature in 1937.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After India became independent in 1947, it continued to be the upper chamber of the legislature of Madras State, one of the successor states to the Madras Presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was renamed as the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council when the state was renamed as Tamil Nadu in 1969. The Council was abolished by the M. G. \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>India and China established a hotline in Kongra La, north Sikkim, and the People\u2019s Liberation Army (PLA) at Khamba Dzong in the Tibet Autonomous Region to further the spirit of trust and cordial relations along the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India and China have two military hotlines in eastern Ladakh, among others at Chushul and Daulat Beg Oldi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These hotlines in various sectors go a long way in maintaining peace and tranquility at the borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February 2021, the Foreign Ministers of India and China had agreed to establish a new hotline between the Foreign Ministries to ensure \u201ctimely communication\u201d in the backdrop of the Ladakh stand-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will be in addition to the long delayed hotline between the Indian Army\u2019s Director General of Military Operations and China\u2019s Western Theatre Command, which is expected to be established soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 He is the 25th officer to hold the position of CGA. \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ministry of Ayush has collaborated with the UK&#8217;s London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to conduct a study on \u2018Ashwagandha\u2019 for promoting recovery from COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Ashwagandha\u2019 (Withania somnifera), commonly known as \u2018Indian winter cherry\u2019, is a traditional Indian herb that boosts energy, reduces stress and makes the immune system stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, and the LSHTM recently signed a MoU to conduct clinical trials of \u2018Ashwagandha\u2019 on 2,000 participants in three U.K. cities \u2014 Leicester, Birmingham and London (Southall and Wembley).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there have been several studies on \u2018Ashwagandha\u2019 to understand its benefits in various ailments, this is the first time the Ministry of Ayush has collaborated with a foreign institution to investigate its week is observed every year from August 1 to 7 in over 120 countries each year to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World Health Organisation states breastfeeding as one of the most effective ways to ensure child health and survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the theme for breastfeeding week is &#8216;Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The history of this week-long commemoration dates back to the 1990s when the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children&#8217;s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) created the Innocenti Declaration to
