Naidu said that\nIndia would not accept interference or mediation in the internal affairs of the\ncountry and asserted that the restructuring of Jammu Kashmir state was aimed at\nimproving governance and fostering inclusive and equitable growth. \u201cThis\ndecision was taken by the Indian parliament with an overwhelming majority\ncutting across party lines\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice Presidents said that attempts by our neighbouring\ncountry to spread misinformation was totally unwarranted and that this kind of\nmeddling with other nation\u2019s internal administration doesn\u2019t bode well for world\npeace. \u201cMisinformation, disinformation and malicious, hateful rhetoric\nexacerbate tensions. In a world that has committed to achieve an ambitious,\ntransformative agenda of sustainable development by 2030, these irritants can\nretard the progress substantially\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President also outlined a few perspectives that have been guiding India\u2019s engagement with the world, Samvad, Samruddhi, Suraksha, Sanskriti, and Samman (Dialogue, mutual prosperity, mutual security, strengthening cultural ties and mutual respect). \u201cWe believe that we must have an inclusive, open and free system that treats all nations equally and fairly and aims to create mutually- beneficial platforms for cooperation. We wish to see a world order that ensures security and growth for all\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foreign Minister of Estonia, Mr. Urmas Reinsalu welcomed the Vice President and more than 60 diplomats were present at the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier in the day, he held wide ranging talks with the\nPresident and Prime Minister of Estonia, who pledged to support India\u2019s claim\nfor permanent membership of the United Nation\u2019s Security Council (UNSC) and to\nintensify the global efforts to fight against terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President and both the dignitaries, the President, Ms. Kersti Kaljulaid and the Prime Minister, Mr. JuriRatas have agreed to expand bilateral relations in all spheres, particularly economic, cultural and Information Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pointing out that India has been facing the menace of\ncross-border terrorism for long, Shri. Naidu told the Estonian leaders that\nmore needs to be done by the international community to counter activities of\nterrorist groups and individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed that there was a need to bring greater\naccountability and transparency to the work of UN Security Council\u2019s Sanctions\nCommittee dealing with listing of terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President urged all members of the UN to\ndemonstrate a collective political will for early adoption of the Comprehensive\nConvention on International Terrorism which was proposed by India in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shri Naidu also told the Estonian dignitaries that India\nbelieved in peaceful relations with all nations, including its neighbours. He\nalso said that India was keen to cement its ties with the Baltic Countries and\nthe EU on all regional and global issues of shared concern and for reforming\nthe multilateral institutions to reflect contemporary global realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the media along with the President of Estonia,\nShri. Naidu said that we recognized the importance of building a global order\nbased on respect for international law and national sovereignty. He also\ndiscussed common concerns such as climate change and global warming. \u201cI invite\nEstonia to join the International Solar Alliance in which India is playing a\nleading role\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his meeting with Mr. Henn Polluaas, President of the\nRiigikogu, the Vice President called for enhanced contact and dialogues between\nthe respective parliamentarians to increase understanding and adopting best\npractices for promoting efficiency, effectiveness and transparency of\nparliament systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the India-Estonia Business Forum, the Vice\nPresident said that India has been recording an economic growth of over 7% for\nseveral years and was expected to become a US $ 5Trillion economy by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that, given Estonia\u2019s IT capabilities and the\ndisruptive innovation environment, there was a vast potential for building\ntechnology partnerships between India\u2019s and Estonian Companies in IT, Cyber\nSecurity and related domains. \u201cI am glad that the Indian start-ups and\nincubators participated in Latitude 59 for the first time in May this year in\nTallinn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appreciating Estonia\u2019s e-residency scheme, which facilitated\nabout 2200 Indians to become e-residents of Estonia, he said it would enable\nIndian companies and entrepreneurs to use Estonia as a launch pad for entering\nthe Baltic, Nordic and European markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from mentioning about opportunities for working\ntogether with regional groupings like ASEAN and EU, he expressed hope that\nmultilateral bodies are further democratized to reflect contemporary realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the India-Estonia Business forum, the Vice\nPresident Referred to the bilateral trade of US $ 172 million between Estonia\nand India and called for increasing trade and economic cooperation between the\ntwo nations. He said the companies of both the countries can have technology\npartnerships in IT, Cyber Security and related domains. He invited Estonian\nbusiness men to take advantage of flagship programs like Make in India, Digital\nIndia and consider manufacturing in India to access markets in India, South\nAsia, Europe and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing the Indian community, the Vice President outlined\nvarious schemes and programs launched by the government to propel India\u2019s\neconomy and appealed to the Indian diaspora to co-script India\u2019s growth story\nas it marches to become a US $ 5 Trillion economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coinciding with the Vice President\u2019s visit, MoUs on Cyber\nSecurity and the exemption of Visa requirement for Diplomatic Passport holders\nwere signed between Indian and Estonian officials.An enhanced agreement on\ne-governance was also signed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President also paid homage to the martyrs of\nEstonia\u2019s struggle for independence by placing a wreath at the memorial in\nVabaduse Square.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vice President decried attempts to spread misinformation and internationalize the re-structuring of the Jammu &amp; Kashmir state which was purely an administrative matter and within the purview of the Indian government.
