The President\u2019s Colour is bestowed on a military unit, in recognition of exceptional service rendered to the nation, both in peace and during the war. The president was given the guard of honour by the Indian Navy on the occasion. The President\u2019s Colour is the highest honour bestowed on a military unit in recognition of its exceptional service to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian Navy was the first amongst the Indian Armed Forces to be awarded the President\u2019s Colour on&nbsp;<strong>27 May 1951<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Dr Rajendra Prasad,<\/strong>&nbsp;the then President of India.
