He was speaking at the Pre-Retirement counseling workshop and the ANUBHAV Awards, 2019 function organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners\u2019 Welfare, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, here today. The Secretary, DARPG and Pensions, Shri K. V. Eapen and the senior officers of the Ministry were also present on the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Jitendra Singh also presented the ANUBHAV awards, 2019 on the occasion. The ANUBHAV awards was created on the call of Prime Minister in 2015 with a vision to preserve rich experience of retired official in digital form. It is envisaged that their rich experience will be preserved for future generation to learn and explore knowledge on various aspects of governance, culture &amp; development history of a particular region. An award scheme to incentivize and encourage more retiring employees to submit their write-ups was introduced in 2016 and till three annual awards ceremony has been organized. This was fourth annual award in the series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister also\ninaugurated the All India Pension Adalat organised on the occasion. The Pension\nAdalats were also organised by various ministries and departments at different\nparts of the country. The Minister interacted with the nodal officers and the\npensioners present at these Pension Adalats through live video conferencing.\nThousands of cases were taken up during these Pension Adalats throughout the\ncountry. More than 50 centres were connected through live video conferencing\nwith the event being organised in Delhi. During this year, at the Pension\nAdalat organised by the Department at New Delhi, 42 cases were taken up. These\ncases belonged to different ministries such as Ministry of Culture, Department\nof Atomic Energy, Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha secretariat, etc. The Pension Adalat\nbrings all stakeholder on a common table i.e. the aggrieved pensioner, the\nconcerned department, the bank or CGHS representative, wherever relevant, so\nthat such cases can be settled across the table within the framework of extant\nrules. States\/UTs, are also conducting Pension Adalat for All India Service\nretired officers. It is a strategic initiative of Department of Pension &amp;\nPW within 100 days of taking over of new Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pre-retirement\ncounselling workshop focussed on educating the retiring employees about various\nprocedures related to the retirement. These included: pension disbursement\nprocess, transfer of pension from one bank to another, role of CPPC in pension\ndisbursement, Bhavishya portal, Digital Life certificate, Pensioners\u2019\nPortal\/CPENGRAMS and welfare schemes of DoP&amp;PW, medical facilities after\nretirement, wealth management and income tax concessions &amp; other special\nfacilities for senior citizens. The Minister also released a Booklet titled\n\u201cKnow Your Retirement Benefits\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the\noccasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said that pensioners are an important and valuable\nasset for the nation and their experience should be utilised for the benefit of\ncountry. He added that the number of pensioners is almost equal to the number\nof serving employees, so their (retired employees) energies also need to be\nchannelized in a right direction. He said that in Prime Minister\u2019s \u2018New India\u2019,\nthese pensioners can contribute through their vision, capability and\nexperience. Congratulating the award winners, the Minister said that \u2018Anubhavs\u2019\n(experiences) documented by them should be a subject matter of research. He\nsaid that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, various\ninitiatives have been taken for the benefit of pensioners, such as Digital life\ncertificates, Pensions Portal, Grievance Cell for Pensioners and various other\nbenefits for Army and CAPFs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He expressed\nhappiness that the Pension Adalats are being organised throughout the country.\nHe said that technology has been utilized by the Department for the benefit of\npensioners. He stressed upon the need of Regional Pension Adalats. While interacting\nwith the pensioners during the Pension Adalat organized by the Department here\ntoday, the Minister said that the banks also need to be sensitised about the\nproblems being faced by the pensioners. He also emphasized upon the\nsimplification of procedures, so that practical problems and avoidable\ninconveniences of the pensioners can be resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Secretary,\nPensions, Shri K. V. Eapen said that last year, 12, 849 cases were taken up at\nthe Pension Adalat, out of which 9,368 cases were resolved. He said that this\nis an initiative to ensure that the retirement becomes smooth for the\npensioners. A Pension Dashboard has been opened for monitoring and various new\ninnovations are being done in making the grievance mechanism more effective, he\nadded.
