\u201cThe Prime Minister reached Biarritz in France, where he\nwill take part in G-7 Summit. In addition to the multilateral components of the\nSummit, he would also be meeting world leaders in separate bilateral\ninteractions,\u201d the Prime Minister\u2019s Office said in a tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the G7 Summit, which will be held in the picturesque\nseaside French town of Biarritz, the Prime Minister will address sessions on\nenvironment, climate, oceans and digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though India is not a member of the G-7 grouping, Mr. Modi\nhas been personally invited by French President Emmanuel Macron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had said that the\ninvitation was a \u201creflection of the personal chemistry\u201d between the two leaders\nand also \u201crecognition of India as a major economic power\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The countries which are part of the G7 include the UK,\nCanada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the sidelines of the G7 Summit, Modi and U.S. President\nDonald Trump are likely to discuss the situation in Kashmir, trade issues and\nother topics of mutual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this week in Washington, Mr. Trump said that he\nwould discuss with Prime Minister Modi the situation in Kashmir and help ease\nthe Indo-Pak tensions when they meet at the G7 Summit in France this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tensions between India and Pakistan spiked after India\nabrogated provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution to withdraw Jammu and\nKashmir\u2019s special status and bifurcated it into two Union Territories, evoking\nstrong reactions from Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
India has categorically told the international community\nthat the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution to revoke the special\nstatus of Jammu and Kashmir was an internal matter and also advised Pakistan to\naccept the reality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
