A total of four Indian astronauts will go to Russia by November 2019 for a training period of 15 months at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre. It will be followed by training in India for six to eight months. The mission to space will be sent by 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In view of the increased cooperation between India and\nRussia for the Gaganyaan mission, a special ISRO unit will also be established\nin the Indian mission in Moscow. Glavkosmos, which is a subsidiary of Russian\nspace agency Roscosmos and manages the international space project had signed a\ncontract with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the training the\nIndian astronauts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India is taking the help of Russia in Gaganyaan because of\nthe country&#8217;s huge experience in terms of human space flight and sees the\nlatter as a reliable long-term partner with great experience in human space\nflight over the last 50 years. Russia is helping adapt its technology for\nIndian requirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the visit of National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit\nDoval to Russia last week, he had met with Roscosmos&#8217;s Director General Dmitry\nRogozin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A release from Roscosmos said, &#8220;The sides discussed\npossible Indian crewed flight carrier rocket aerodynamic tests, as well as\npiloted vehicle and crew rescue system. It is planned to reach an agreement until\nthe end of August 2019. Russia and India are expecting to negotiate the\ncontracts to supply windows, crew seats and spacesuits for the Indian crewed\nmission.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rs 10,000 crore Gaganyaan project was announced by PM\nNarendra Modi during his Independence Day speech on August 15, 2018, and\ninvolves three-membered Indian crew being sent to space for a period of seven\ndays.
