We can discuss and resolve\nthese issues bilaterally,\u201d Modi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Modi said India and Pakistan were together before 1947 and\nhe was confident that the two neighbours can discuss their problems and solve\nthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noting that during his telephonic conversations with\nPakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in the recent past, he told him that there\nwere poverty and many other issues confronting both countries and the nations\nshould work together for the welfare of their people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On his part, Trump said he and Modi spoke last night about\nKashmir and he feels that both India and Pakistan can resolve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their meeting came against the backdrop of the Indian\ngovernment revoking the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the\nstate into two Union Territories on August 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tensions between India and Pakistan spiked after India\nabrogated provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution, evoking strong\nreactions from Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India has categorically told the international community\nthat the scrapping of Article 370 was an internal matter and also advised Pakistan\nto accept
