The World Expo 2020<\/strong> has been organised in Dubai<\/strong> in the United Arab Emirates from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022. <\/strong>Union minister Piyush Goyal said that India received the largest and strategically located plot from the Dubai authorities for the pavilion. Among the 192 participating countries, India will have the biggest pavilion in the expo. The main theme of the Dubai Expo 2020 is \u201cConnecting Minds, Creating the Future\u201d. The Expo was originally scheduled to take place from 20 October 2020 to 10 April 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Expo 2020 is the first to be held in the MENA & SA (the Middle East and North Africa & South Asia) region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Purpose:<\/strong> World Expos provide a platform to showcase the greatest innovations that have shaped the world we live in today. The grand event will have 191 country pavilions.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated in the launch of the India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 through video conferencing on October 01, 2021. He invited global investors to invest in India and be a part of India\u2019s growth story. The theme of the India pavilion at the Expo is \u201cOpenness, Opportunity, and Growth\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will showcase resurgent India\u2019s march to becoming a USD 5 Trillion economy, the exceptional fightback against COVID-19, and the country\u2019s emergence as a global business hub presenting huge opportunities for the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

American scientists David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Medicine on October 04, 2021. for discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch which the award-giving body said could pave the way for new painkillers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have been honoured for the discovery of receptors in the skin that sense temperature and touch and could pave the way for new painkillers. The prestigious award comes with a gold medal and 10 million Swedish kronor (over $1.14 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Japan\u2019s parliament elected former foreign minister Fumio Kishida as the new prime minister on October 04, 2021. Kishida replaces his predecessor, Yoshihide Suga. The 64-year-old Kishida received 257 votes, from 249 parliament members to be sworn in as the\u00a0100th Prime Minister<\/strong>\u00a0of the country. He replaces Yoshihide Suga, who submitted his resignation along with his entire cabinet on October 04, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Colonel Mamady Doumbouya was sworn in as Interim President of the coastal West African country of Guinea. Colonel Doumbouya, who led the overthrow of President Alpha Conde on the 5th of last month was sworn in by Supreme Court Head Mamadou Sylla for a transition period of unspecified length. Doumbouy, led the military coup in September 05, 2021, to overthrow 83-year-old President Alpha Conde.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former French legionnaire, 41, becomes Africa\u2019s second-youngest leader, after Mali\u2019s Assimi Go\u00efta, 38, who also staged a military takeover. The 41-year old Col Doumbouya is Africa\u2019s second-youngest leader, after Mali\u2019s 38-year-old Assimi Go\u00efta. Doumbouya will serve as transitional president until the country returns to civilian rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has inaugurated the country\u2019s first \u201cSports Arbitration Centre of India\u201d in Gujarat which will serve as an independent body to fast track disputes in the sports sector. The gross GST<\/strong> revenue collected in the month of September was \u20b91.17 lakh rupees,<\/strong> which included a CGST component of 20,578 crores,<\/strong> SGST is 26,767 crore,<\/strong> and IGST component of 60,911 crore rupees.<\/strong> The revenue for September was 23% higher than the GST revenues in the same month last year. During the month, revenue from import of goods was 30% higher and the revenues from the domestic transactions (including import of services) are 20% higher than the revenues from these sources during the same month last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The revenue for September 2020 was, in itself at a growth of 4% over the revenue of September 2019 of \u20b9 91,916 crores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
