The Minister of\nState Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Mansukh L. Mandaviya said that it is\nthat about 28 million girls are reported to be leaving education because of\nlack of availability of good quality Sanitary Napkin\u201d pads at reasonable cost.\nHe said, Department of Pharmaceuticals is determined to provide affordable\nhealthcare to all Indians through ever-increasing network of PMBJP Kendras\nacross countryand this had already led to substantial savings to poor on\nmedicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Government of\nIndia launched \u201cJan Aushadhi Suvidha Oxo-Biodegradable Sanitary Napkin\u201d at Rs\n2.50 per pad on the eve of the World Environment Day 4thJune 2018. Jan Aushadhi\nSuvidha comes with a special additive, which makes it biodegradable when it\ncomes in contact with oxygen after being discarded. Till 31st July 2019, over\n1.30 crore pads were sold at Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to make\nthese sanitary pads more affordable and accessible to the women of India,\nGovernment of India has now decided to make these pads available at rate of\nonly Rs 1.00\/- per pad as promised by the Prime Minister before the \u2018Lok Sabha\nElection-2019\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is an\nimportant step in ensuring the health security forthe section of Indian women\nwho still use unhygienic aids during menstrual period due to non-affordability\nof sanitary pads available in themarket. This will ensure \u2018Swachhta, Swasthya\nand Suvidha\u2019 for the underprivileged women of the country. This step taken by\nthe Department of Pharmaceuticals will ensure the achievement of Prime Minister\nShri Narendra Modi\u2019s vision of \u201cAffordable and Quality Healthcare\u201d for all. It\nwill also help in fulfilling the Prime Minister\u2019s dream of \u201cClean India &\nGreen India\u201d as these pads are oxo-biodegradable and environment friendly. Jan\nAushadhi Suvidha is beingmade available for sale in more than 5500 PMBJP\nKendras across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJanaushadhi Sugam\u201d\nmobile application would have user-friendly options like- to locate nearby\nJanaushadhikendra, direction guidance for location of the Janaushadhikendra\nthrough Google Map, search Janaushadhi generic medicines, analyse product\ncomparison of Generic vs Branded medicine in form of MRP & overall Savings,\netc. The mobile application is available on both Android & iOS platforms.\nIt can be downloaded free of cost by the user from Google Play Store and Apple\nStore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
