The Indian Railways has launched two long haul freight trains \u201cTrishul\u201d and \u201cGaruda\u201d for the South Central Railway (SCR) <\/strong>\u2014 which are twice or multiple times longer than the normal composition of freight trains. These long-haul trains provide a very effective solution to the problem of capacity constraints in critical sections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a Long haul train?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trishul is the first long haul train of South Central Railway (SCR) and consists of 177 wagons, or equal to three freight trains. It was launched from Kondapalli station of Vijayawada division to Khurda division of the East Coast Railway. SCR followed it up with the running of yet another similar train \u2018Garuda\u2019 from Raichur of Guntakal division to Manuguru of Secunderabad division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the long-haul trains had empty open wagons to be used to load coal meant for predominantly thermal power stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"Reliance<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReliance New Energy Solar Ltd (RNESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has announced the acquisition of 100 percent shareholding of REC Solar Holdings AS (REC Group) from China National Bluestar (Group) Co Ltd., for an Enterprise Value of USD 771 million,\u201d Reliance New Energy Solar said in a BSE filing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This acquisition will enable Reliance to move closer to achieve the goal of generating 100GW of solar energy by 2030, and in turn, support the country\u2019s global goal to produce 450GW of renewable energy by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

REC Group has three manufacturing facilities, two in Norway for making solar-grade polysilicon and one in Singapore making PV cells and modules. With this acquisition, RNESL will become the owner of REL\u2019s three manufacturing facilities. REC Solar has 5,000 MW of installed capacity in the Indian subcontinent and its solar panels have been subject to rigorous testing in India by third parties, and the panels clocked an average of 0.68% degradation in 3.8 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The second phase<\/strong> of Exercise Malabar 2021,<\/strong> between the Quad<\/strong> countries, will be conducted in the Bay of Bengal from October 12 to 15, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first phase of the mega wargame took place off the coast of Guam in the Western Pacific from August 26-29 that featured a number of complex drills involving many frontline warships and other assets of the four navies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exercise Malabar 2021 is the 25th edition of MALABAR.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indian Navy\u2019s participation includes INS Ranvijay, INS Satpura, P8I Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft, and a Submarine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF), Royal Australian Navy (RAN), and the United States Navy (USN) are the other participants in the exercise. The Exercise Malabar was first held in 1992 as a bilateral drill between the Indian Navy and the US Navy in the Indian Ocean. Later in 2015, Japan became a permanent member of the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
