Recently, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued Guidelines for the Scheme for grant of Award to the Good Samaritan who has saved the life of a victim from a fatal accident involving a motor vehicle. The scheme aims to motivate the general public to help the victims of road accidents in an emergency situation, as well as inspire and motivate others to save innocent lives on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under this Good Samaritan scheme, a cash award of Rs. 5,000 per incident<\/strong> will be given to those who save the life of a road accident victim by administering immediate assistance and rushing him\/her to the hospital within the \u2018golden hour\u2019 of the mishap, i.e. within 60 minutes of the incident, to provide medical treatment. An individual Good Samaritan can be awarded maximum 5 times in a year. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Scheme would come into effect from October 15, 2021. <\/strong>The Scheme would be effective w.e.f 15th of October, 2021.
