Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe officials briefed the Minister about the progress made\non the ongoing projects in the North Eastern Region(NER). During the meeting,\nDr Jitendra Singh was informed that all the North-Eastern States have provided\ndata for the Education and Research Network (ERNET ) paving way for bringing\nthe NER under Digital India Programme to make the citizens of the country\ndigitally empowered in the field of technology. Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated\nthe achievement of the Ministry of DoNER in this direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister was briefed about the Hostel for North Easter\nstudents in Delhi-NCR being constructed in JNU campus at Delhi. The Engineering\nteam confirmed that the tender for the Hostel Building has been concluded and\nthe work is likely to commence on ground by 1st week of September,2019. This is\nfirst of its kind hostel in JNU. The Hostel will accommodate 408 students. In\naddition to that 24 rooms have been earmarked for Divyang students of the NER.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The status of the North Eastern Cultural and Convention\nCentre to be set up in Dwarka in New Delhi was also discussed during the\nmeeting. The estimated cost of the project is about Rs. 94.00 crore. Proposed\ndesign of the building was discussed to which Minister gave some suggestions to\nmake it more futuristic and to make auditorium of large capacity . He said that\nthis Centre will act as a cultural and convention\/information hub of the North\nEastern Region in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister also suggested for making arrangements for\nputting up Exhibitions and stalls of North-East products and handicrafts in\nJammu and Kashmir so that connectivity between North-Eastern States and J&K\nmay be increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While taking stock of the initiatives and projects to be\nimplemented in the region, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the development of the\nNER has been the priority for the Government under the leadership of Prime\nMinister, Shri Narendra Modi. The Government will make all efforts for the\nimplementation of ongoing development projects in North Eastern Region and will\ntake measures to introduce new projects for the benefit of people of North East\n\nThe Minister was also briefed about the\npreparations made for the upcoming North Eastern Council 68th Pplenary Meet to\nbe held on September 8th and 9th, 2019 at Guwahati.
