Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe Directorate has taken several initiatives in the past to\nease the working of the Shipping industry. These include revamping of old Acts,\neasing of norms for Coastal Shipping, quality training and employment of\nseafarers and complete revamp of e-Governance modules. There have been reforms\nin Training and Seafarer\u2019s welfare systems, introduction of e- migrant and ISPL\nmodule in e-governance system ensuring maritime administration to be in the\nloop. The steps taken in the recent years have had significant impact on\nseafarers’ employment whose numbers have gone up substantially touching a\nfigure of 2,08,000. The Ship registration in India has gone up by around 200 in\nthe last 4 years and coastal traffic is expected to rise significantly. These\ninitiatives are a part of the much larger \u2018Sagarmala Project\u2019 envisaged by the\ngovernment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The function in Mumbai tomorrow will include a march past by\nfour contingents of Trainee Cadets representing Maritime Training Institutes\nfrom East, West, North and South regions of the country. Interestingly, the 5th\ncontingent will be one exclusively of women cadets. A contingent each of Indian\nNavy and Indian Coast Guard will also be there, symbolizing the close\nco-operation between the DG Shipping, Coast Guard and Indian Navy.
