The credit card segment is dominated by the US-based payment gateways like Visa and Mastercard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RuPay is the first-of-its-kind domestic debit and credit\ncard payment network of India developed by National Payments Corporation of\nIndia (NPCI), an umbrella organisation for operating retail payments and\nsettlement systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a last agreement that is left out at the end of\nNPCI level. I think NPCI is going to send it any day and we will be launching\nsome products,&#8221; SBI Card MD and CEO Hardayal Prasad said in an interview\nto PTI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Expressing confidence that RuPay credit card will be\nlaunched in this fiscal only, Prasad said, &#8220;It&#8217;s just a matter of time.\nThe Rupay will become very popular and will be used in India aggressively. I\nhave no doubts on it&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that there is a big &#8220;nationalistic\nsegment&#8221; which is insisting on RuPay cards. About one-third of the cards\nbeing issued by India&#8217;s largest lender State Bank of India are RuPay cards, he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are class of customers who want RuPay card.\nThere are those nationalistic people who say &#8216;give us only Rupay cards&#8217;. So I\nam very upbeat,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company may issue both RuPay as well as Visa\/Mastercard\nto its customers, specially who travel abroad, Prasad said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of now, RuPay cards are accepted only in few countries,\nincluding Singapore and Bhutan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently launched\nthe card in UAE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RuPay has also tied-up with international players like\nDiscover, Japan Credit Bureau and China Union Pay to enhance its international\nacceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prasad further said that SBI Card has rolled out its chatbot\n&#8216;ILA&#8217; (Interactive Live Assistant) on its mobile app to further enhance\nconsumer experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ILA has 40 plus innovative features making SBI Card one of\nthe first in the industry to offer a complete suite of self-service\nfunctionalities increasing convenience for the customers, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Since its release, SBI Card&#8217;s chatbot has successfully\nresolved over 14 million queries with over 97 per cent accuracy,&#8221; he\nadded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>SBI Card had 90 lakh customers at end-July with a market\nshare of 17.9 per cent.
