Venkaiah Naidu has described India-France Strategic Partnership as an important pillar of India\u2019s foreign policy and said that India and France could act as harbingers of peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interacting with a delegation of French Parliamentarians led\nby Mrs. Sophie Primas, the Chair, and Senate Standing Committee for Economic\nAffairs, in New Delhi, Shri Naidu called for closer cooperation between India\nand France to promote peace and harmony in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vice President said that India always believed in peaceful\nco-existence with all countries, including its neighbours. \u201cWe don\u2019t want\nanybody to interfere in the internal affairs of our country, nor do we\ninterfere in the affairs of other countries\u201d, he told the delegation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Observing that India valued its partnership with France on\ndefence cooperation, maritime security, counter-terrorism, space co-operation,\neconomic partnership, and the other areas, the Vice President suggested the\nsetting up of Indo-French Parliamentary Friendship Group to promote closer ties\nbetween the two nations. He also expressed happiness over France\u2019s decision to\npartner with India under the Smart Cities initiatives. India\u2019s development\nneeds require massive investments in urban renewal and clean energy, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling for greater trade, technology, and capital flows\nbetween the two nations, Shri Naidu said the bilateral trade momentum needs to\nbe multiplied to reach the set target of trade in goods to 15 bn Euros by 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stating that Climate Change was an article of faith for the\nIndian government, Vice President reaffirmed India\u2019s commitment to Paris\nAgreements and said that India was on way to achieve the goals well in advance.\nHe commended France on the initiatives in this regard and in particular, for\nholding the One Planet Summits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shri Naidu also recollected his visit to France during the\ncentenary of World War I Armistice held in November 2018 where he had\ninaugurated the first Indian War Memorial in Villers Guislain in the memory of\nmore than 9,000 Indians, who sacrificed their lives in that war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Referring to the longstanding and multifaceted space\ncooperation between India and France through ISRO and CNES, he said, \u201cWe are\ncommitted to carrying forward this cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Vice President of India, Shri M.
