The iDEX portal and Defence India Start-up Challenge (DISC)-III was also launched. It is an ecosystem to foster innovation &amp; technology development in Defence and Aerospace by engaging innovators &amp; entrepreneurs to deliver technologically advanced solutions for modernizing Indian Military. The iDEX is funded and managed by <strong>\u201cDefence Innovation Organisation\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Defence Innovation Organisation:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government has approved a Scheme of Defence Innovation\nFund (DIF), aimed at creating an eco-system to foster innovation and technology\ndevelopment in defence by engaging R&amp;D institutes, academia, industry\nincluding MSMEs, start-ups and even individual innovators and provide them\naward based grant\/ funding to carry out innovative development, which has good\npotential for future commercialization. The Scheme is proposed to be\nimplemented through a \u2018not for profit\u2019 company under section 8 of the Companies\nAct, namely Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO). DIO has been registered with\nBengaluru as its headquarter. The DIO would be funded by two Defence Public\nSector Undertakings (DPSUs), namely Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and\nBharat Electronics Limited (BEL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Defence\nIndia Start up Challenge:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DISC aimed at supporting Startups\/MSMEs\/Innovators to create\nprototypes and\/or commercialize products\/solutions in the area of National\nDefence and Security. It has been launched by the Ministry of Defence in\npartnership with Atal Innovation Mission. Under DISC-III, three challenges from\nthe ARMY, Navy and Air Force were thrown open to prospective start-ups.
