{"id":6097,"date":"2019-11-21T10:19:42","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T10:19:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=6097"},"modified":"2019-11-21T10:19:43","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T10:19:43","slug":"dpiit-establishes-development-council-for-bicycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/dpiit-establishes-development-council-for-bicycle\/","title":{"rendered":"DPIIT establishes Development Council for Bicycle"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has set up a Development Council for Bicycle for vision planning in design, engineering and manufacturing of lighter, smarter, value added, safe and faster premium bicycles which are comparable with global standards for exports and domestic market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\nTwenty-three-member Council will be headed by Secretary DPIIT. The constitution\nof the Council is for a period of two years. Joint Secretary, Light Engineering\nIndustry Division in DPIIT will be Member-Secretary. The Council will have 9\nex-officio members from DPIIT and Department of Commerce, Ministries of Housing\nand Urban Affairs, Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Health and Family\nWelfare, Road Transport and Highways, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship,\nMicro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Bureau of Indian Standards. The Council\nwill also have 7 expert domain members and 4 nominated. The terms of ex-officio\nmembers shall be co-terminus with their official posting. Others members may be\nco-opted, as required, by the Chairperson of the Council. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Council will stimulate value chain and fuel\naccelerated demand growth of Make-in-India through the following activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To\nimprove competitiveness and level of services.<\/li><li>To\ntransform Indian bicycle technology and its value chain.<\/li><li>To ensure\ndevelopment of holistic eco-system through close, coordinated and continuous\nstakeholder persuasion.<\/li><li>To\nundertake all possible measures for leveraging bicycle demand, it may\ninter-alia include ensuring enabling (safe and segregated) cycling\ninfrastructure and operations.<\/li><li>To\nenhance export competitiveness of bicycle through support of schemes and\nfavourable trade policies.<\/li><li>To\npopularize the incredible benefits of cycling through the campaigns piloted by\nthe concerned Ministries\/ Departments of Government of India such as Ministry\nof Health (health benefits), Ministry of Environment and Forest (air\/ noise\npollution free benefits), Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (energy saving\nbenefits), Ministry of Housing &amp; Urban Affairs (decongestion benefits).<\/li><li>Development\nof medium and small industries to usher in a new mind-set through innovative\nschemes in a structured and synergetic way.<\/li><li>Development\nof skilled human resources development for bicycle manufacturing and repair\nshops.<\/li><li>To\nidentify and study best international practices and successful story to adopt\nfor bicycle manufacturing, recycling and infrastructure development in India.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has set up a Development Council for Bicycle for vision planning in design, engineering and manufacturing of lighter, smarter, value added, safe and faster premium bicycles which are comparable with global standards for exports and domestic market.
