The Assembly has been kept in suspended animation. The Union Cabinet recommended the President&#8217;s rule in the state after Governor of the state submitted a report regarding the same. The Governor said a situation has arisen that a stable government is not possible and the government could not be carried on in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. He signed a proclamation imposing President&#8217;s rule in Maharashtra under Article 356(1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soon after the Governor\u2019s report was sent, the Union\nCabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, met and approved a recommendation\nto the President to issue a proclamation under Article 356(1) of the\nConstitution. The Cabinet assembled at the Prime Minister\u2019s residence minutes\nbefore he was to fly to Brazil to attend the BRICS summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President\u2019s Rule implies the suspension of a state\ngovernment and the imposition of direct rule of the Centre. It is also known as\n\u2018State Emergency\u2019 or \u2018Constitutional Emergency\u2019. The President\u2019s Rule is\nimposed through the invocation of Article 356 of the Constitution by the\nPresident on the advice of the Union Council of Ministers.
