The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL)<\/strong> has elected a contentious official from the United Arab Emirates as its new president during the international law enforcement body’s annual General Assembly held in Istanbul, Turkey.<\/strong> He replaces Kim Jong Yan<\/strong> from South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final round, the UAE candidate received 68.9 per cent of votes cast by member countries.
