The Kazhuveli wetlands are referred to as the 2nd largest&nbsp;<strong>Brackish Water Lake<\/strong>&nbsp;in South India, only after Pulicat lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Kazhuveli Bird Sanctuary:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It covers&nbsp;<strong>5,151.60 hectares<\/strong>&nbsp;of land in&nbsp;<strong>Vanur taluk<\/strong>&nbsp;and 3,027.25 hectares in Marakkanam taluks. The sanctuary lies adjacent to the<strong>&nbsp;Bay of Bengal<\/strong>&nbsp;along the East coast of Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kazhuveli is a wetland of international importance that is spread over\u00a0<strong>670 square km<\/strong>\u00a0in the east coast of Tamil Nadu. Note- Southern part of the wetland was declared reserved land in the year\u00a0<strong>2001.<\/strong>\u00a0The Sanctuary covers\u00a013 villages\u00a0in the Villupuram district.
