She is the 3<sup>RD<\/sup> &nbsp;woman to receive Ramanujan Prize, which was first awarded in<strong>&nbsp;2005<\/strong>&nbsp;and is administered by Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics jointly with Dept Science and Technology and International Mathematical Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Neena Gupta\u2019s journey as a mathematician:<\/strong> After graduating with mathematics honours from Bethune College, Kolkata, in 2006, Neena Gupta went on to complete her post-graduation from the Indian Statistical Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following her post-graduation, Professor Gupta pursued her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in algebraic geometry and in the year 2014 went on to publish her first research paper on Zariski\u2019s \u2018cancellation problem\u2019. Her paper received an award and was widely recognised by other mathematicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Awards and Honours:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014, Professor Neena Gupta had received the&nbsp;<strong>\u2018Young Scientist award<\/strong>&nbsp;from the Indian National Science Academy, which called her work among one of the best done so far in algebraic geometry in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, Professor Gupta became one of the youngest people to receive the &#8216;Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize&#8217;&nbsp;at the age of&nbsp;35.
