Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)<\/strong> has successfully test-fired Pinaka Extended Range (Pinaka-ER), Area Denial Munitions (ADM), and indigenously developed fuzes. The test was conducted at Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the Odisha coast. A total of 25 enhanced Pinaka rockets were reportedly fired from multi-barrel rocket launchers (MRLs) at several ranges during the test. The range version can destroy the target of up to 45 km. At the same time, the flight path of these missiles was tracked by range instruments including telemetry, radar, and electro-optical tracking system deployed by ITR and Proof and Experimental Establishment (PXE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system has been designed by DRDO Laboratory Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) along with High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune, the technology has been transferred to the Indian industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About the Pinaka-ER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pinaka-ER is the upgraded version of the earlier version which has been in service with the Army for the last decade. It has been designed in the light of emerging requirements with advanced technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About ADM:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ADM variants of munition designed by the Armament Research & Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune for Pinaka and manufactured by the industry partner were also successfully carried out at Pokhran range as part of performance evaluation trials under technology absorption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Every year on December 12th, the International Day of Neutrality promotes the importance of peaceful, friendly, and mutually beneficial relations between countries. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill 2021<\/strong> \u2013 The Rajya Sabha has passed a National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bill declares six additional National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research as Institutions of National Importance.  These institutes are located in: (i) Ahmedabad, (ii) Hajipur, (iii) Hyderabad, (iv) Kolkata, (v) Guwahati, and (vi) Raebareli. These institutes will start undergraduate and diploma courses and an advisory council will be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It aims to establish a Council to coordinate institutions\u2019 activities and will also ensure the development of pharmaceutical education and research and maintenance of standards. It was introduced in Lok Sabha on 15 March, 2021 and later, it was thereafter referred to the Standing Committee on Chemicals and Fertilizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"Indian<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Indian Mathematician Professor Neena Gupta,<\/strong> a mathematician at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata was awarded the \u2018Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries 2021\u2019 for her outstanding work in affine algebraic geometry and commutative algebra, the Ministry of Science and Technology informed, adding that Professor Neena is the third woman to receive the Ramanujan Prize since its inception in 2004. Professor Neena Gupta, a mathematician at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in Kolkata. She is the 3RD<\/sup>  woman to receive Ramanujan Prize, which was first awarded in 2005<\/strong> and is administered by Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics jointly with Dept Science and Technology and International Mathematical Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neena Gupta\u2019s journey as a mathematician:<\/strong> After graduating with mathematics honours from Bethune College, Kolkata, in 2006, Neena Gupta went on to complete her post-graduation from the Indian Statistical Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following her post-graduation, Professor Gupta pursued her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in algebraic geometry and in the year 2014 went on to publish her first research paper on Zariski\u2019s \u2018cancellation problem\u2019. Her paper received an award and was widely recognised by other mathematicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Awards and Honours:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2014, Professor Neena Gupta had received the \u2018Young Scientist award<\/strong> from the Indian National Science Academy, which called her work among one of the best done so far in algebraic geometry in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, Professor Gupta became one of the youngest people to receive the \u2018Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize\u2019 at the age of 35. She has successfully solved a 70-year-old mathematics puzzle \u2013 Zariski\u2019s Cancellation Problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

\"NITI<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

NITI Aayog has planned to establish 1,000 Atal Tinkering Laboratories in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of these, 187 will be established by the end of this financial year. It was conveyed at a high-level meeting headed by Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta to take stock of arrangements for opening Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) in various educational institutions of Jammu and Kashmir. The remaining 106 labs will be established soon<\/p>\n\n\n\n
