India\u2019s first International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC) was jointly inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, N.V. Ramana, and Telangana Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, at Phoenix VK Tower at Nanakramguda, Hyderabad, Telangana. <\/strong>Those who empanel the centre include internationally acclaimed arbitrators and mediators from countries such as Singapore and the UK.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rishabh Pant named as Uttarakhand\u2019s brand ambassador<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Uttarakhand government on December 19 named Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant as the state\u2019s brand ambassador for promoting sports and general health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 24-year Pant, who was rested for the New Zealand Tests, is currently in South Africa as the Indian Team is all set to face Proteas in the three-match Test series, starting December 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nagaland creates 3 new districts Niuland, Tseminyu, Chumukedima<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nagaland<\/strong> government has announced the creation of three new districts, namely Tseminyu, Niuland and Chumoukedima.<\/strong> This comes less than a year after the 12th district of the state\u2014Noklak\u2014was inaugurated. Now there are 15 districts in the northeastern state of Nagaland s declared by the state cabinet on Saturday 18 December. While the Tseminyu sub-division in Kohima district has been upgraded to a district, Niuland and Chumukedima have been carved out of Dimapur district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier the state had a total of 12 districts namely Kohima, Dimapur, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Tuensang Wokha, Phek, Zunheboto, Mokochung and Longleng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though there were demands from at least 11 tribes for the creation of new districts, the Cabinet could consider only three of them as some districts are inhabited by only one tribe and those cannot be divided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Punjab CM gave tag of \u2018state festival\u2019 to Jagannath Rath Yatra<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi<\/strong> has declared Lord Krishna Balram Jagannath Rath Yatra<\/strong> as an annual state festival. The announcement for the same was made during flagging off the 25th Shri Lord Krishna Balram Jagannath Rath Yatra.<\/strong> He also announced a grant of Rs 2.51 crore for the Iskcon Temple in Ludhiana, Punjab. Notably, He also said that the Punjab government was developing Shri Bhagvad Gita and Ramayana Research Centre on a 20-acre land in Patiala. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was not the first time that the Rath Yatra of Ludhiana set the stage for the elections. Ahead of the 2017 Punjab elections, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia of AAP participated in the yatra. He also performed \u2018Maha Aarti\u2019 from the stage with party candidates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leftist and former student leader Gabriel Boric, 35, will become Chile\u2019s youngest President after he won a presidential runoff election. He defeated his opposition Jose Antonio Kast<\/strong> in the elections. Gabriel Boric will assume office in March 2022, will become the youngest president in Chile\u2019s history. Official results gave Mr. Boric 56% of the votes against Mr. Kast\u2019s 44%. Mr. Kast conceded defeat barely an hour-and-a-half after polls closed, and with around half of ballots counted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president-elect also promised to block a controversial proposed mining project which he said would destroy communities and the national environment. Chile\u2019s currency, the peso, plunged to a record low against the US dollar after Mr Boric\u2019s victory. Stock markets fell by 10%, with mining stocks performing particularly badly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
