For speedy disposal of rape cases and aiming at expediting\nthe trial of cases relating to women and children, the Odisha government will\nset up 45 new fast track courts. 21 courts would be dedicated for cases of rape\nand sexual harassment of women. The remaining 24 fast track courts will\nspecifically deal with Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO)\ncases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision to set up the special courts was taken in the\nwake of rising incidents of sexual offences against women and children, and the\nCentre\u2019s plan to set up fast track courts for the speedy disposal of such\ncases. 14 posts of judges were lying vacant in the Orissa High Court.
