The objective of SEED is the welfare of De-notified,\u00a0Nomadic and Semi Nomadic tribal Communities, which\u00a0are the most neglected, marginalized and economically and socially deprived communities.\u00a0Total financial outlay for SEED Scheme is approximately\u00a0Rs 200 crore<\/strong>\u00a0to be spent over a period of\u00a05 years starting Financial Year 2021-22 to 2025-26.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
SIDBI launches \u2018waste to wealth creation\u2019 programme in West Bengal<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nSmall Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) on Monday launched the \u2018Waste to Wealth Creation\u2019 programme in which women will make ornaments and showpieces from fish scale in the Sundarbans in West Bengal\u2019s South 24 Parganas district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this, the women will make ornaments and showpieces from the fish scales. SIDBI will extend benefits to 50 women in directly generating revenues from alternate livelihoods. Later, each of them is expected to become a trainer for replicating and disseminating the knowledge among other aspirants. This is a part of mission Swavalamban of SIDBI that aims to support artisans to become sustainable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Government forms G20 Secretariat in view India\u2019s G20 Presidency in 2022-23<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe Union Cabinet on Tuesday set in motion the process to build a Secretariat that will look after the affairs of organising the G20 summit in 2023. India will steer the international body as its President from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023, which will lead to the G20 summit to be hosted here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For its preparation, the government has approved the setting up of a G20 Secretariat and its reporting structures. The G20 Secretariat will be guided by an Apex Committee headed by Prime Minister<\/strong> and it will have the following members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Finance Minister- Nirmala Sitharaman,<\/li>
- Home Minister- Amit Shah,<\/li>
- External Affairs Minister- S. Jaishankar, and<\/li>
- G20 Sherpa- Piyush Goyal <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The G20 secretariat will be responsible for implementation of overall policy decisions and arrangements needed for steering India\u2019s forthcoming G20 Presidency. In 2021, the G20 summits was held in Rome, Italy.\u00a0In 2022 the G20 summit will be held in Bali, Indonesia\u00a0while\u00a0in 2023 it will be held in New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe 4th India \u2013 Australia Energy Dialogue was held on 15th February 2022. The dialogue was co-chaired by Hon\u2019ble Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Mr. R.K. Singh from the Indian side, and Hon\u2019ble Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction, Mr. Angus Taylor from the Australian side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Energy Transition was a major area of discussion in the dialogue and both the Energy Ministers spoke in detail about the ongoing Energy Transition activities in their respective countries with a focus on renewables, energy efficiency, storage, EVs, critical minerals, mining, etc. The need of Climate Finance was also highlighted by India for meeting the Energy Transition goals of developing countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both the countries signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for working towards reducing the cost of new and renewable energy technologies and scaling up their deployment to reduce global emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WHO launches Quit Tobacco App<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe World Health Organization launched \u2018Quit Tobacco App\u2019 to help people kick the cigarette butt and give up use of tobacco in all forms \u2013 including smokeless and other newer products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The App was launched by Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh, Regional Director, WHO-SEAR, during WHO\u2019s year-long\u00a0\u2018Commit to quit\u2019 campaign<\/strong>, is the latest tobacco control initiative by the WHO South-East Asia Region. This latest tobacco control initiative in the form of app will help users to identify the triggers, set their targets, manage cravings, and stay focused to quit tobacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
