Former navy vice chief, Vice Admiral (retd.) G Ashok Kumar took over as India\u2019s first National Maritime Security Coordinator (NMSC) to strengthen the country\u2019s maritime security. He will report directly to Ajit Doval (NSA). He stepped down as vice head of the navy last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Kumar, an alumnus of Sainik School in\u00a0Amaravathi Nagar, Tamil Nadu, and the National Defence Academy in Khadakvasla, Pune. He was commissioned into the\u00a0navy\u2019s executive branch\u00a0in July 1982.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mizoram to get motor racing track near Aizawl airport<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Mizoram will soon get a motor racing track, which will be the first of its kind in eastern and northeastern India. The proposed project worth Rs 10 crores will be constructed at Lengpui, about 31 km north of Aizawl, where the lone state\u2019s airport is located.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) had inked a pact for the construction of REC Motosports Racing Tract and Sports Complex.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gujarat announces New Biotechnology Policy for 2022-27<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel has announced New Biotechnology Policy for the year 2022-27, aimed to achieve Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Under this policy, strategic projects, mega and large projects are eligible for special packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will attract new investment through anchor units and existing industries and create new employment opportunities in the state. The\u00a0MSMEs with a capital investment\u00a0of less than 200 crore rupees will be given maximum assistance of 40 crore rupees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DefExpo 2022: Over 900 firms to take part<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Asia\u2019s largest defence exhibition, DefExpo 2022 will be held in Gandhinagar.  More than 900 defence firms and 55 countries are expected to participate in it. A 1,000-drone display is expected to be one of the highlights of the exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be the second time such a show is being organised in the country. DefExpo\u00a0was traditionally held in\u00a0Delhi\u00a0until 2014 after which it has seen a string of new venues \u2014\u00a0Goa\u00a0(2016),\u00a0Chennai\u00a0(2018) and\u00a0Lucknow\u00a0(2020).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tourism Ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alliance Air Aviation Limited to boost cooperation for the promotion and marketing of domestic tourism throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alliance Air\u00a0is the front runner in promoting the Regional Connectivity Scheme of the government which is being promoted under the scheme UDAN \u2013 (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik). The MoU was signed with a view to achieving the common purpose of joint domestic promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian football legend Surajit Sengupta passes away<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The former India footballer Surajit Sengupta (71-years) passed away due to COVID-19 complications in Kolkata. Sengupta had been associated with Kolkata\u2019s three big clubs, Mohun Bagan (1972-1973, 1981-1983), East Bengal (1974- 1979) and Mohammedan Sporting (1980).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He represented the national team from\u00a01973 to 1979\u00a0and was in the national team for the 1978 Asian Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This partnership is to distribute the wealth products and services through the bank\u2019s network of more than 2,000 branches and its digital platforms, including the mobile banking app and internet banking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wealth management services\u00a0will be made accessible to bank customers through both physical and digital mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndusInd Bank to facilitate digital transactions on e-NAM<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

IndusInd Bank has been empaneled by the SFAC to facilitate digital collection and settlement services on e-NAM portal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this arrangement, the bank will offer an array of transaction services through digital modes including multi-net banking ,\u00a0debit card, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS and UPI\u00a0to the buyer and seller.\u00a0As of January 2022, there are over\u00a01.7 crore farmers\u00a0and more than 1.8 lakh traders who are registered on\u00a0eNAM\u00a0and have benefitted from the digital marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s first water taxi service inaugurated to connect South Mumbai with Navi Mumbai<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The long-awaited water taxi services linking Mumbai\u2019s east coast with the mainland in Navi Mumbai and other locations \u2014 the first of its kind in India \u2014 was inaugurated on February 17, 2022 by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in the presence of Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Water Taxi service will connect the twin cities of Navi Mumbai to mainland Mumbai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kotak Mahindra Bank ties up with Ezetap for integrated PoS solutions<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd (KMBL) said on Friday that it has partnered with Ezetap to provide integrated Point of Sale (PoS) solutions across 4,000 locations in India. The initiative will further strengthen the Bank\u2019s presence in the digital payments market space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The integrated solution provided by Ezetap will enable the merchants availing PoS facility of Kotak Mahindra Bank\u00a0to avail various value-added services through the PoS product<\/strong>\u00a0like payment digitally through their apps over cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s GDP projected at 8.8% in FY22: SBI Ecowrap report<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The State Bank of India (SBI) Research Report, Ecowrap<\/strong>, has revised downwards the gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of India for FY22 (2021-22) to 8.8 percent.<\/strong> Earlier this was estimated at 9.3 percent. The real GDP will be around Rs 2.35 lakh crore more or 1.6% higher than the FY20 real GDP of Rs 145.69 lakh crore, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s gross domestic product (GDP) is likely to grow at 5.8% in the third quarter of fiscal 2022, according to latest edition of SBI\u2019s research report Ecowrap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIDBI expands its MSME programme to Bihar<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

SIDBI has partnered with the Bihar govt to develop the state\u2019s MSME ecosystem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It signed two MoUs with the Industries Department, Govt of Bihar and Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA). Under the MoU it will deploy Project Management Units (PMU) in making necessary interventions for facilitating the development of the MSME ecosystem. SIDBI is the principal financial institution for MSME development in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ministry of Power notifies Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Policy<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Government had launched the National Hydrogen Mission on India\u2019s 75th Independence Day (i.e. 15th August, 2021). The Mission aims to aid the government in meeting its climate targets and making India a green hydrogen hub. This will help in meeting the target of production of 5 million tonnes of Green hydrogen by 2030 and the related development of renewable energy capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
