Israel successfully tests new naval air defence system \u2018C-Dome\u2019<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Israel<\/strong> successfully tested a new naval air defense system \u201cC-Dome,\u201d<\/strong> to be used on the Israeli Navy\u2019s Sa\u2019ar 6-class corvettes, <\/strong>intercepting a series of threats in what officials called a key layer of protection against Iran and its proxies in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cC-Dome\u201d system is a naval version of the Iron Dome, which has been used to shoot down rockets fired from the Gaza Strip for the past decade. The C-Dome is being installed on Israel\u2019s latest-generation corvette warships, which protect Israel\u2019s coastline and offshore natural gas assets in the Mediterranean. The successful test further strengthens the missile defense systems of the Israeli Navy to safeguard the maritime assets of the State of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Himachal Pradesh gets 1st Biodiversity Park at Mandi <\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Himachal Pradesh gets the first biodiversity park to make its contribution towards the conservation of endangered Himalayan herbs. This park is set to come up at Mandi\u2019s Bhulah valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the cost of Rs 1 crore, the biodiversity park is set up under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) by HP\u2019s forest department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the park is to link tourism activities along with extending new opportunities for researchers to conduct in-depth exploration of various medicinal herbs found in the Himalayas that are on the verge of extinction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lavender designated as brand product of J&K\u2019s Doda district, the birthplace of Purple Revolution<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Doda and Kishtwar districts in Jammu & Kashmir recently. Addressing the meeting, he said Lavender has been designated as Doda brand product, while Kishtwar\u2019s Rattle Hydropower Project has been revived after over eight years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key decision taken during the meeting was to designate Lavender as Doda brand product<\/strong>, to promote lavender under \u2018One District, One Product\u2019 initiative of the Modi Government. Doda district in J&K is the birthplace of India\u2019s Purple Revolution<\/strong>, or the cultivation of Lavender. Though, Lavender cultivation is practiced in almost all the 20 districts of Jammu & Kashmir. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Takuya Tsumura appointed as new President and CEO of Honda Cars India<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Japanese auto major Honda Motor Co. Ltd. announced the appointment of Takuya Tsumura as the new President & CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) with effect from 1 April 2022. The appointment comes as part of the management changes announced annually by the company. Tsumura, 54, will take over from Gaku Nakanishi, with effect from April 1, 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nakanishi has been appointed as General Manager, Automobile Business of Asian Honda (Regional office-Bangkok, Thailand), which coordinates Honda operations in Asia and Oceania region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It highlights the story of multinational digital-payments company PayPal<\/strong> and how it covered the journey of a start-up that turned into one of the most successful companies of all time, worth over USD 70 billion. It also offers colourful anecdotes about famous people like Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Reid Hoffman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The book explores the origin of PayPal and its founding team, including Elon Musk, Amy Rowe Klement, Peter Thiel, Julie Anderson, Max Levchin, Reid Hoffman, and many others whose stories have never been shared. PayPal is a US-based multinational financial technology company, which operates an online payments system globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madhya Pradesh: 48th Khajuraho Dance Festival begins <\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Madhya Pradesh Governor, Mangu Bhai Patel has inaugurated the 48th \u2018Khajuraho Dance Festival-2022\u2019 at world-famous tourist destination Khajuraho on the occasion of \u2018Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be organized till 26 February. This year a 5-km \u2018Dil Khel Ke Ghoomo\u2019 marathon was also organized under the banner of \u2018Safe Tourism Project for Women\u2019 at the event. It aims to create a sense of security among women in tourist destinations with the slogan \u2018Hindustan Ke Dil Mein Aap Safe Hain\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Khajuraho dance festival was started in 1975 from the temple premises itself. It was not allowed to be performed in the temple premises only after two-three years, as a result, this ceremony was performed outside the temple premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centre organise week-long \u2018Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate\u2019 Science exhibition at 75 locations across country<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Government of India has organised a week-long science exhibition titled \u2018Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate\u2019 (<\/strong>\u0935\u093f\u091c\u094d\u091e\u093e\u0928 <\/strong>\u0938\u0930\u094d\u0935\u0924\u094d\u0930 <\/strong>\u092a\u0941\u091c\u094d\u092f\u0924\u0947)<\/strong> from February 22 to 28, 2022, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commemoration. It will be conducted simultaneously at 75 locations across the country through a hybrid mode. The programme will be held from Leh and Srinagar to Port Blair and Kavaratti Islands in Lakshadweep from north to south and from Ahmedabad and Daman to Itanagar, Kohima, and Aizawl from west to east, apart from the national capital Delhi. The inaugural programme will be held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on 22nd of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The festival will celebrate science and technology (S&T) and display the country\u2019s scientific legacy and technology prowess. The festival will culminate on February 28, 2022, which coincide with the National Science Day, commemorated in remembrance of Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman\u2019s path-breaking discovery of the Raman Effect in 1930.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UK closes \u2018golden visa\u2019 route for investors over security concerns<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The UK<\/strong> on Thursday closed Tier 1 Investor visa<\/strong> route to all new applicants from all nationalities with immediate effect over security concerns. The route had allowed entry and stay in the UK for individuals if they had invested funds in share capital or loan capital in active and trading UK registered companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement was made by UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. The UK Investment Visa is a Tier 1 visa offered to wealthy individuals willing to invest a minimum of \u00a32 million in the UK. In another event, Bahrain has launched the creation of long-term visas for foreigners in an effort to \u201cboost the economy\u201d. It will be known as the \u201cgolden residence\u201d Visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s teen prodigy R Praggnanandhaa becomes youngest player to beat World No 1 Magnus Carlsen<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

India\u2019s teenage chess grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa has won praise for a stunning victory over world number one Magnus Carlsen in an online championship. The 16-year-old Pragg achieved the feat in the eighth round of the Airthings Masters, an online rapid chess tournament, in 39 moves with black pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pragg is also only the third Indian grandmaster to win against Magnus Carlsen apart from Viswanathan Anand and Pentala Harikrishna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting in Beijing following the election of two new members, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes\u2019 Commission (AC)  re-elected Emma Terho (Finland, ice hockey) as its Chair and Seung Min Ryu (Republic of Korea, table tennis) as first Vice-Chair, and elected Sarah Walker (New Zealand, cycling) as second Vice-Chair of the Commission. Emma is a double Olympic bronze medallist and former captain of the Finland women\u2019s ice hockey team.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elected to the AC at PyeongChang 2018, Emma Terho took the lead of the Commission after the elections held during the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Apart from this, Seung Min Ryu<\/strong> (Republic of Korea, table tennis) has been re-elected as first Vice-Chair of the Commission. Sarah Walker (New Zealand, cycling) has been elected as IOC AC\u2019s second Vice-Chair, a position created in December 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Sri Lankan Airlines<\/strong> CEO Vipula Gunatilleka<\/strong> has been named as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Jet Airways<\/strong> by the new promoters Jalan Kalrock Consortium<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gunatilleka was the CEO of SriLankan Airlines until January 2022. He will join Jet Airways with effect from March 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India and France sign Roadmap on Blue Economy and Ocean Governance<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

External affairs minister S Jaishankar held talks with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian on Sunday in Paris and the two countries committed to adopting a roadmap on the blue economy and ocean governance to enhance partnership for the exploitation and preservation of marine resources through economic, infrastructure and scientific cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership will help to explore the potential for collaboration in marine science research for a better understanding of oceans, and ensure that the ocean remains a global common, a space of freedom and trade, based on the rule of law. The agreement on \u2018Roadmap on Blue Economy and Ocean Governance\u2019<\/strong> was signed between India\u2019s External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar\u2019s and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. S Jaishankar is on\u00a0three-day visit to France<\/strong>,\u00a0from February 20 to 22, 2022, to attend\u00a0EU Ministerial Forum for Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific<\/strong>\u00a0scheduled for\u00a0February 22.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assam Govt Launches India\u2019s First Night Navigation Mobile App In Rivers<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma <\/strong>has launched India\u2019s first Night Navigation mobile application<\/strong> for ferry services on the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati, Assam.<\/strong> The night navigation mobile application was developed by the transport department in association with K Raju, the principal scientist of IIT Madras and will survey the draft of the rivers, the spokesperson said. The first night journey of the IWT (Inland Water Transport) ferry between Guwahati and North Guwahati was started on 19 February 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also launched ten Aadhar-based contactless services of the State Transport Department to make public service delivery time-efficient and budget-friendly. The Chief Minister also launched e-ticketing system for Dhubri and Silchar ferry services at the same programme. An MoU was also signed between the Common Service Centres (CSCs) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the State Transport Department to provide online services at the panchayat level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International chess player woman FIDE master, a high ranking chess title  Tanishka Kotia and her sister Riddhika Kotia have been announced as brand ambassadors from Gurugram for the centre\u2019s \u2018Beti Bachao Beti Padhao\u2019 scheme. Tanishka Kotia won the Limca Book of Records for being the youngest chess player in 2008. They belong to the Haryana state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tanishka Kotia ranks 2nd in the country in the under-16 category, World Chess Federation rankings released in 2019. She won a gold medal at the ASEAN Chess Championship in 2013 and silver at the Commonwealth Chess Championship In 2014 in Scotland.
