The vaccine has been cleared for people aged 18 to 64 since its safety and effectiveness, according to Health Canada, have not been established in people younger than 18 or older than 64 years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision to authorize the vaccine was based on a study conducted on&nbsp;<strong>24,000 adults<\/strong>&nbsp;that showed the efficacy rate of the vaccine is<strong>&nbsp;71%<\/strong>&nbsp;at preventing COVID-19 \u2013 although the tests were conducted before the omicron variant emerged. Covifenz is the name given to this vaccine.
