[PART 1]<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canonical buddhist texts.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713Canonical texts are the books which lay down the basic tenets and principles of a religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713Various Buddhist schools classify their canonical literature in different ways, some into 9 or 12 Angas, others into 3 Pitakas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 There are Pali, Chinese, and Tibetan versions of the Tipitaka. The Pali Tipitaka of the Theravada school is the oldest of them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2206Tripitaka:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tipitaka consists of three books :-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. The Sutta Pitaka contains the Buddha\u2019s discourses on various doctrinal issues in dialogue form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. The Vinaya Pitaka has rules monks and nuns of the sangha (monastic order).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. The Abhidhamma Pitaka is later work, and contains a thorough study&nbsp; and systemization of the teachings of the Sutta Pitaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713Three Pitakas are divided into books known as the Nikayas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2713 For instance, the Sutta Pitaka consists of five Nikayas\u2014 the Digha, Majjhima, Samyutta, Anguttara, and Khuddaka Nikayas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BUDDHIST LITERATURE.
