The Centre has completed asset monetisation worth Rs 96,000 crore during FY22, surpassing the target of Rs 88,000 crore. For FY23, it has set itself a goal of Rs 1.62 trillion, and already has a pipeline of assets worth Rs 1.6 trillion under advanced stages of implementation, an official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sectors which contributed most to the asset monetisation include roads, power and mining of coal and minerals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Asset monetisation:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0The process of creating new sources of revenue for the government and its entities by unlocking the economic value of unutilised or underutilised public assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WTO cuts global trade growth forecast to 3% in 2022<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The World Trade Organization (WTO) on Tuesday lowered its 2022 global trade forecast to 3 per cent, from 4.7 per cent, due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and a potentially more transmissible Omicron subtype fettering China. The forecast for 2023 is 3.4 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The downward revision follows the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has impacted commodity prices, disrupted supplies and intensified geopolitical and economic uncertainty. For 2023, this merchandise trade volume growth is projected at 3.4%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ecuador becomes world\u2019s first country to give legal rights to wild animals<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Ecuador,<\/strong> a South American Country, became the first country in the world to give legal rights to wild animals.<\/strong> The highest court in the country has ruled in favour of the case that focused on a woolly monkey named \u201cEstrellita\u201d<\/strong> who was taken from her home to a zoo, where she passed just a week later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ruling comes soon after the Ecuador recently also became the first country in the world to recognise nature as a legal entity. The apex court of Ecuador has stated that wild animals have the right \u201cnot to be hunted, fished, captured, collected, extracted, kept, retained, trafficked, marketed or exchanged\u201d and the right to the \u201cfree development of their animal behaviour, which includes the guarantee of not being domesticated and not forced to assimilate human characteristics or appearances.\u201d It is worth noting that owning wild animals in Ecuador is illegal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harsh V Shringla appointed as India\u2019s G20 Chief Coordinator<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Foreign secretary Harsh V Shringla, who will retire at the end of this month, was Saturday appointed as India\u2019s chief G20 coordinator, as the country assumes G20 presidency later this year after the Summit in Indonesia and prepares to host the 2023 event amid an emerging geo-political order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G20 chief coordinator is a secretary-level post. It must be noted that Mr. Shringla will retire as foreign secretary on April 30, 2022. Meanwhile, India will assume the Presidency of G20 after the 2022 Summit in Indonesia in November and will host the 2023 G20 Summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PM Modi has been chosen for the inaugural award for his selfless service to the nation and society. The prime minister will receive the award \u2014 Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar \u2014 on April 24 which marks the 80th death anniversary of Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, the singing legend\u2019s father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From this year, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar will be given every year to only one individual who has made path-breaking, spectacular and exemplary contributions to the nation, its people and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar wins EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2021<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has been appointed to the ICC Cricket Committee as the Member Board Representative while Mahela Jayawardene was reappointed as Past Player represent. Meanwhile, former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has been reappointed as Past Player representative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two appointment were announced during the ICC Board Meeting held in Dubai on April 10, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery Tournament held in Jamshedpur<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Sports Authority of India has approved Rs 75 lakh to host the Khelo India National Ranking Women Archery Tournament over six phases at Tata Archery Academy. Jamshedpur in Jharkhand is set to host the first phase of the tournament on April 12 and April 13. The tournament was organised jointly by the Archery Association of India (AAI), in collaboration with the Jharkhand Archery Association and TATA Steel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The six tournaments will be held every alternate month and the\u00a0final phase will take place in December 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This day aims to raise the public awareness and visibility among people about Chagas Disease (also called American trypanosomiasis) and the resources needed for the prevention, control or elimination of the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
