France successfully launches military communications satellite ‘Syracuse 4A’
France successfully launched a military communication satellite, named Syracuse 4A, into orbit recently from Kourou, in French Guiana. The state-of-the-art satellite was launched on Ariane 5 rocket.
The satellite “is designed to resist military aggression from the ground and in space, as well as interference,” French air and space force spokesman Colonel Stephane Spet told AFP. The new satellite will allow the armed forces of France across the globe to communicate swiftly and securely. It is the first in the series of three Syracuse IV communication satellite being developed to improve French military satellite communications.
