ULA’s Atlas V rocket launched with US Space Force satellite
A United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket has been successfully launched from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
It was carrying the Space Based Infrared System Geosynchronous Earth Orbit-6 (SBIRS GEO 6) mission for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command.
SBIRS is an early missile warning system that will replace the Defense Support Program (launched in the 1950).
The ULA is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
