ISRO’s PSLV-C55 successfully deployed 2 Singapore satellites into orbit: According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), two Singaporean spacecraft, TeLEOS-2 and Lumelite-4, were successfully launched into orbit by the dependable Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), while seven other payloads connected to the PS4 upper stage were utilised for experiments.

● The Satish Dhawan Space Centre hosted the launch.

● The launch represented the 57th PSLV flight and the 16th mission using the PSLV Core Alone configuration, the launch vehicle’s lightest design because it only has four core stages and no strap-on boosters to offer additional thrust, according to ISRO.

● PSLV-C55, which took around 20 minutes to launch, placed TeLEOS-2 in an orbit 586 kilometres above the earth.

● The 16 kilogramme Lumelite-4 was then sent into orbit as well. The Defence Science and Technology Agency of Singapore and ST Engineering, a Singaporean technology and engineering company, collaborated on the development of the TeLEOS-2 satellite.

● Once installed and operational, it will be used to fulfil the satellite imagery needs of many agencies in Singapore.

● Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is the payload carried by TeLEOS-2. It will offer coverage in all weather conditions day and night.

Development of the Lumelite-4 satellite

The Lumelite-4 satellite was developed in collaboration with the National University of Singapore’s Satellite Technology and Research Centre and A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research. The high-performance space-borne VHF data exchange system was built for technological demonstration by Lumelite-4, a cutting-edge 12U satellite. It seeks to improve the maritime safety systems for electronic navigation in Singapore.

The mission also contained a PSLV Orbital Experimental Module, which would utilise the discarded PS4 stage of the launch vehicle as an orbital platform for conducting scientific experiments with non-separating payloads. According to S Somnath, chairman of Isro, who talked to the media after the launch, the first unmanned Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) rocket is expected to launch in February 2024 as part of the Gaganyaan mission. UDAN 5.0 launched by Civil Aviation Ministry: Key Points

• According to a tweet from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, there are no distance restrictions between the origin and destination, and the stage length cap of 600 kilometres is lifted. Only aircraft operations of Category 2 (20–80 seats) and Category 3 (>80 seats) will be eligible.
• There are no restrictions on the distance between the flight’s origin and destination, and the earlier stage length cap of 600 km is waived.
• The viability gap funding (VGF) supplied will be capped at 600 km stage length for both Priority and Non-Priority sectors, up from 500 km before.
• Only the network and individual route proposals made by the airlines will be taken into consideration, and the airlines will be required to submit an action/business plan two months after the Letter of Authorization (LoA) has been issued, in which they will detail their strategy for purchasing aircraft and their capacity for hiring crew, using slots, etc. at the time of the technical proposal.
• The same airline cannot be assigned to the same route more than once, either inside the same network or across networks.
• Exclusivity will be withdrawn if the average quarterly passenger load factor [PLF] is higher than 75% for four consecutive quarters, to prevent the monopoly on a route from being exploited.

• For each month of delay up to four months, 25% of the Performance Guarantee will be forfeited as a further incentive for rapid operationalization.
• An enforceable promise to provide a potential contractor with the resources they need and to take on all of their contractual duties is known as a performance guarantee.
• The Ministry added that after receiving the route award, airlines would need to start operating within four months.
• This deadline was formerly set at six months.
• In order to promote rapid operationalization of routes under the Scheme, it was also added that a list of airports that are ready for operation or will soon be ready for operation has been included in the scheme.
• Novation procedures for routes between operators are streamlined and encouraged.
• Novation is the process of replacing an existing contract with a new one after the contracting parties come to an agreement.

UDAN has proven to be the lifeblood of several regions, with many of them now well connected to the rest of the country. International Delegate’s Day: History

International Delegate’s Day marks the anniversary of the first day of the San Francisco Conference, also known as the United Nations Conference on International Organization. On 25 April 1945, delegates from fifty countries came together for the first time in San Francisco. Coming together after the devastation of the second world war, their aim was to set up an organization that would restore world peace and impose rules on the post-war world order.

850 delegates took part in this conference, which lasted for two months. They represented over eighty per cent of the world’s population, people of every world religion and continent; all determined to set up an organization, which would preserve peace and help build a better world.

Two months after the first meeting, on 26 June 1945, the Charter of the United Nations was signed by representatives of the 50 countries that attended the conference. The agreement culminated in the formation of the United Nations, an organisation that presently has 193 Member States and acts as the primary international arena for collective dialogue between the delegates of its Member States. Poland, which did not have a government at the time of the conference, signed the charter later, hence bringing up the number of the Founding Member States to 51.

In its resolution 73/286 from 2 April 2019, the General Assembly recalls the achievement of the San Francisco Conference and proclaims 25 April as International Delegate’s Day.
