
Vishwanath Karthikey Padakanti, a 16-year-old boy from Hyderabad, has made history. He is now the youngest India and the second youngest person in the world to finish the famous 7 Summits challenge.
This means he climbed the highest mountain on each of the seven continents – a big dream for mountaineers around the world.
Vishwanath completed his final climb on May 27, when he reached the top of Mount Everest, which is 8,848 meters high. ”Standing on Everest and finishing the 7 Summits is a dream come true,” said Vishwanath. ”This journey tested me in every way – physically, mentally and emotionally.
Training and Hard Work
Vishwanath trained for five months at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. His first try at Mount Elbrus in 2021 was also unsuccessful. But he didn’t give up. Over the years, he climbed many big peaks like:
- Kosciuszko (Australia)
- Aconcagua (South America)
- Denali (North America)
- Kilimanjaro (Africa)
- Elbrus (Europe)
- Vinson (Antarctica)
