PM Modi to launch agricultural schemes worth Rs 35,440 crore

The Government of India rolled out two new agricultural schemes in 2025. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. These programs are designed to enhance productivity, bolster rural economies, and improve farmers’ incomes throughout the nation. With a total investment exceeding Rs 35,000 crore, the initiatives focus on 100 specially chosen districts.

Key highlight of the Schemes

  • The PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana with an allocation of ₹24,000 crore. The scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity, increase adoption of crop diversification and sustainable agriculture practices, augment post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block level, improve irrigation facilities and facilitate availability of long-term and short-term credit in the selected 100 districts, according to a release from PMO.
  • The Dalhan Atmanirbharata Mission aims to increase pulse production by expanding cultivation area and improving procurement and processing. It targets nutritional security and benefits nearly two crore pulse farmers.
  • The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses with an outlay of ₹11,440 crore. This initiative seeks to increase pulse productivity, expand cultivation areas, strengthen the value chain, and minimize post-harvest losses.
  • Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate and dedicate projects worth over ₹5,450 crore across agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing. This includes Artificial Insemination Training Centers in Bengaluru and Jammu & Kashmir, Centres of Excellence in Amreli and Banas, an IVF Lab in Assam as part of the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, and milk powder plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara. A fish feed plant in Tezpur, Assam, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, along with agro-processing and cold chain infrastructure, will also be launched.
  • Foundation stones will be laid for more projects valued at around ₹815 crore, which include integrated cold chain and value addition facilities in Krishna, Andhra Pradesh; trout fisheries in Uttarakhand; an Integrated Aqua Park in Nagaland; a smart and integrated fishing harbor in Karaikal, Puducherry; and an advanced aquapark in Hirakud, Odisha.
  • The event will also highlight significant achievements under government initiatives, such as reaching 50 lakh farmer memberships in 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), certifying 50,000 farmers under the National Mission for Natural Farming, and launching over 10,000 multipurpose and e-PACS. More than 10,000 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS) have expanded their services to operate as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) and Common Service Centres (CSCs).
