Kochihas become India’s first city to have aWater Metro Projectafter the launch of its first boat inDecember 2021, namely ‘Muziris,’among the 23 battery-powered electric boats being manufactured byCochin Shipyard Limited.
The new project will be operated by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd. The project will have an integrated water transport system with 15 identified routes and a fleet of 78 fast, electrically propelled hybrid ferries plying to 38 jetties. It will connect 10 islands along the identified network of routes that span 76 km.
