
The Abhinav Bharat Society was established as an overtly revolutionary organization in 1904, by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and his brother Ganesh Damodar Savarkar while at Fergusson College in Pune, India. Cutting acrss the independence movement in India, it was originally called “Mitra Mela” and ran branches across India and London with the intent of overthrowing British rule through an armed revolution.
