Agro Climatic Zones In Assam

Assam is classified into six agro-climatic areas called the North Bank Plains Zone, Upper Brahmaputra Valley Zone, Central Brahmaputra Valley Zone, Lower Brahmaputra Valley Zone, Barak Valley Zone and Hills Zone.

Here is more information about the agro-climatic zones in Assam:

  • North Bank Plains Zone contains the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang and Udalguri.
  • Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, Majuli and Golaghat are located in the zone known as Upper Brahmaputra Valley.
  • Central Brahmaputra Valley Zone is found in Nagaon and Morigaon.
  • In the Lower Brahmaputra Valley Zone, you can find the regions of Kamrup, Borpeta, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Goalpara, Dhubri and Kokrajhar.
  • Barak Valley Zone is made up of Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj.
  • Karbi Anglong and North Cachar hills are found in the Hills Temperate Zone.
