Assam Launches ₹25,000 Monthly Support Scheme for Research Scholars

The Assam government will launch the Atal Vichal Agragami Assam scheme on February 11, 2026, providing monthly financial assistance of ₹25,000 to research scholars and ₹40,000 to Divyang scholars.
Aimed at promoting innovation, high-quality research, and inclusive higher education, the initiative seeks to ease financial burdens, empower young talent, and strengthen Assam’s academic ecosystem, ensuring equal opportunities and support for scholars with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this monthly assistance, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Residency: Must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Enrollment: Must be a full-time PhD scholar enrolled in a State or Central University located within Assam.
  • Exclusions: Scholars in private or open universities are generally ineligible. Additionally, current or past beneficiaries of the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina scheme are excluded. 

Application & Implementation

  • Implementation Agency: The Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training.
  • Application Portal: Applications are processed online through the Digital Infrastructure for DBT Schemes (DIDS) Portal.
  • Verification: Following online submission, applications undergo institutional verification by the concerned university before final departmental approval.
  • Disbursement: Payments are made via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the scholar’s bank account.
