Atal Setu – Mumbai Trans Harbour Link

Atal Setu, which is officially called Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, holds the title of India’s longest sea bridge. It connects Sewri in Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai and is often referred to as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link.

  • Location: Maharashtra, connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai. 
  • Official Name: Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri–Nhava Sheva Atal Setu. 
  • Also Known As: Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL). 
  • Length: 21.8 kilometers, with 16.5 kilometers over the sea. 
  • Purpose: To reduce travel time between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, and improve connectivity between Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port. 
  • Inauguration: January 12, 2024. 
  • Cost: Approximately Rs 17,840 crore.
