Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley wins second consecutive term
Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley was sworn in for a second term Thursday after her party appeared to have swept every legislative seat in the first elections the island nation held as a republic since casting off the British monarchy.
Mottley is serving as the Prime Minister of Barbados since 2018. She is the leader of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) since 2008. Mottley is the first woman prime minister of the country as well as first PM under a republic system.
