About College:
The Bharathiar University Act was passed in 1981 which led to the establishment of Bharathiar University at Coimbatore in 1982. Named after Subramania Bharati, the University has been founded by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The following colleges – Chikkana Govt. Arts College, LRG Govt. Arts College for Women, Air Force Administrative College, CBM College, Sri Vasavi College are affiliated to this university. The University Grants Commission recognised it in 1985.
It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programmes. The University provides courses in Tamil, history, management, biotechnology and genetic engineering, computer science, economics, education, English, botany, zoology, bioinformatics, environmental science, mathematics, physics, medical physics, psychology, linguistics and many others.
