Chandela dynasty

The Chandela dynasty was a royalty line or medieval India ruling dynasty, ruling on the Bundelkhand region (present-day Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh) from the 9th to the 14th centuries. The Chandela dynasty originated as vassals of the Gurjara-Pratiharas, and slowly increased their territory until they had control of a large portion of the region. Khajuraho served as the capital of the Chandela state.

  The Chandela dynasty was a Rajput clan. The Chandela royal family stated their lineage is from Chandravanshi, recognizing their dynasty coming from the moon, or the moon god. They began as feudatories then worked towards and eventually forming an independent state in the Bundelkhand region.

  The territory for the Chandela Kingdom claimed very precise the bundelkhand region, which is an important region in the history of India due to its history and culture. The territory extended from the north (Yamuna (Jumna) River), to the east (Vindhya Hills), and west toward (Dhasan River).
• Important rulers:
  The important or founders of the Chandela dynasty’s rulers included Nannuka (the founder), Vakpati, Ganda, and Vidyadhara, who expanded the Chandela empire.
• Khajuraho
  The most well recognized dynasty from the Chandela dynasty is their temples and the architectural and artistic history that is Khajuraho. They are a part of the World Heritage Site condominium.
• Impact
  Ultimately the Chandela dynasty provided many cultural, architectural or historical attributes for Bundelkhand or India.
