Dangeti Jahnavi of Palakollu, West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh made an Indian history in space exploration by completing NASA’s International Air and Space program. This is both very important as Jahnavi is a pioneer in the on-going engagement of India in international space missions and it showcases the tremendous increase in capabilities in aerospace in part due to India’s political environments.

Her achievement as a young female space cadet is certainly more than a milestone in Indian space exploration, but in the achievement of women in STEM. Jahnavi’s recent completion of NASA’s rigorous program has demonstrated the proficiency of Indian talent on the global stage and opened up a new platform for the future generations of space enthusiasts in India.

Historic Space Mission Selection.

Jahnavi’s space mission is to Titan’s Orbital Port Space Station, which is a new US project that is planned to built in the next four years. Jahnavi’s space mission will be a moment in history in 2029, as she is one of the first Indians to go to the commercial space station which is an unprecedented mission for India.

The Titan Orbital Port Space Station is new generation of space infrastructure that,  will be designed to support the extended presence of humans in space and as a hub / new space platform for complex and intensified scientific research and commercial activities using the architectures of the space station. Jahnavi’s selection on the Titan Orbital Port Space Station mission clearly establishes her exceptional credentials and internationally validation from leading space organizations..

Education and background

Jahnavi has established a firm educational background in Electronics and Communication Engineering allowing her journey to space to be built on a solid foundation. She received her undergraduate education at Lovely Professional University in Punjab after completing her Intermediate education in her hometown of Palakollu as India has educational systems that allow this. This structure allowed her to have the technical knowledge to prepare for her interests in space technology and exploration.

STEM Education and Outreach Leadership

Beyond her personal achievements, Jahnavi has established herself as a prominent advocate for STEM education and space outreach. She has delivered talks for ISRO’s educational programs, sharing her knowledge and inspiring the next generation of space enthusiasts across India. Her involvement with the Indian Space Research Organisation’s educational initiatives highlights her commitment to nurturing scientific talent within the country.

Her impact extends to premier educational institutions, where she has addressed students at National Institutes of Technology (NITs) across the country. These engagements allow her to share her experiences and knowledge with some of India’s brightest engineering students, potentially inspiring future space professionals and researchers.

Jahnavi’s Scientific Contributions and Discoveries

Jahnavi’s contributions to space science do not end with training and education. The International Astronomical Search Collaboration encountered a provisional asteroid discovery using data from the Panoramic Survey Telescope and Rapid Response System (Pan-STARRS). Evidence of data analysis and independent professional contributions to astronomical research and product are visible in the work done. The asteroid discovery demonstrates Jahnavi’s data analysis skills and commitment to the research tasks such as the development of scientific community partnerships that are critical for successful space missions. Contributions towards understanding astronomical knowledge continues to advance our understanding of our solar system and the potential for hazards to Earth, ultimately being critical to our society as a whole.

Jahnavi’s Awards and Accolades

Jahnavi has received numerous prestigious awards and accolades during her career, recognizing her contributions to space science, space education and work as an academic in responsible space science. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a significant statement on the political infrastructure and competitive politics Monday with the inauguration of a six-lane bridge over the River Ganges that connects Patna (where he is Based) with Raghopur (located in Lalu Prasad’s political base). The infrastructure project has significant political value because it connects the power center of the state with the constituencies of the chief opposition leader.

The bridge was inaugurated when near Kachchi Dargah, a mosque on the eastern fringe of Patna. The ceremony also included several high-level state officials such as Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and the Assembly Speaker Nawal Kishor Yadav, who is the local MLA of the Patna Sahib constituency of which Kachchi Dargah forms part.

Direct Engagement with Opposition Territory

With the ceremony over and a fifth consecutive election campaign in the offing, Kumar, then, arguably politically very strategically, drove straight to Raghopur (a non-city area constituency of the opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav), in a direct interaction with the opposition leader’s political area.

In Raghopur, Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister, was well received by the local population. On the other hand, Kumar expressed his pleasure of the change in connection and economic perspectives effect of this important infrastructure project.

Transformative Impact on Rural Connectivity

Kumar noted the bridge’s importance for the local people, saying that, “People of Raghopur diyara (riverine area), who were earlier coming to Patna after ferrying across the Ganga using boats, will benefit greatly.” This reinforces how this bridge will solve years of commuter issues for people living in riverine areas.

This bridge represents a major impetus for change in the infrastructure that can eliminate dependence on boat transportation across the Ganges, and allows dependable, year-round connectivity regardless of river conditions. The impact of this change will vary from improvements in economic activity, better access to health care and education, and ultimately an improved quality of life in the region.

On 25 June 2025 at 12:01 pm IST, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, Indian Air Force, began his ascent to the International Space Station on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Block 5 from Launch Complex 39A, Kennedy Space Center. This is the second to have gone to space and the first Indian to live and work on the ISS.

Who Is Shubhanshu Shukla?

Shubhanshu Shukla was born on 10 October 1985, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, graduated from the National Defence Academy in 2005, and joined the IAF Fighter Stream in June 2006. By March 2024 he was a Group Captain with over 2,000 hours of flying experience on combat aircraft like Su 30 MKI, MiG 21/29, Jaguar and Hawk, and a member of the Gaganyaan astronaut cadre through ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) since 2019, completing training in Russia and Bengaluru, and joined the Ax 4 mission crew in early 2024.

Falcon 9 Block 5 & Crew Dragon: A Safe Pair

The Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket was certified by NASA in November 2020; it is a reusable, medium-lift rocket recognized for its 100% success rate for crewed missions and redundant systems. The mission uses a new Crew Dragon capsule, operated autonomously, resulting in the four-member international crew travelling to the ISS.

A Global Crew and Mission Objectives

The crew represents a truly global experience as Axiom 4 command will comprise former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, mission specialists from Poland and Hungary, and pilot Shukla. The crew is tasked to accomplish approximately 60 scientific experiments over 14 days, including seven designed in India, across microgravity, biology and materials science.

A Milestone for the Journey to Space for India

This mission is India’s first government backed presence on the ISS and its re-emergence to human spaceflight since Rakesh Sharma flew in 1984. This mission is also an extension of the Gaganyaan programme and firmly places India alongside other nations capable of traveling to space.

Technical Delays plus Final Countdown

The launch was delayed several times due to weather issues, technical, and safety checks including a liquid oxygen leak in early June. In the end, the team was able to resolve all matters and the final launch window for the mission opened on 25 June.

Language is a significant part of India’s cultural and educational identity. There are 22 languages recognized in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution as official languages. The Government of India sets aside money for the promotion, preservation, and development of the languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Over the past 10 years, the allocation of funds has been uneven across the languages and relates to intercultural priorities involving educational programs and funding for institutions.

The report shows the allocation of government expenditure to languages in India, and how many of each language that are funded and spent on.

The Importance of Allocating Expenditures of Government Spending on Languages

The decision to allocate expenditures to languages is based on the following:

• Cultural preservation

• Literary development
