
The DRDO inaugurated the Quantum Technology Research Centre (QTRC) at Metcalfe House, Delhi, on May 27, 2025, to accelerate indigenous quantum innovation in areas like quantum communication, atomic timekeeping, and quantum sensing.
The centre includes state-of-the-art setups for testing lasers, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, atomic clocks, and magnetometers, playing a critical role in post-quantum cryptography and national defence.
The initiative supports the National Quantum Mission and aligns with India’s vision of strategic self-reliance.
